COMMONWEALTH REGIONAL GROWTH FUND OPEN FOR APPLICATION

March 22, 2018

After nine months delay the Turnbull Government has opened the Regional Growth Fund.

Federal Member for Braddon Justine Keay said “I welcome this decision after calling for the fund to be opened in early January.

“This $272 million fund has sat idle since last year’s Federal Budget despite being announced with much fanfare by former Nationals Leader Barnaby Joyce.

“The fund provides grants of $10 million or more for major transformational projects which support long term economic growth and create jobs in regions undergoing structural adjustment.

“The Cradle Coast region could qualify for support through this fund as our region’s economy diversifies from a mix of traditional industries to advanced manufacturing, servicing and tourism.

“The fund requires applications to address key criteria including

  •  Create Jobs
  • Drive Economic Growth
  • Build Stronger Regional Communities

Justine Keay said, “Selection of projects will be undertaken in two stages. Stage One requires submission of an Initial Application for competitive assessment. Stage Two is for the submission of a Full Business Case.

“Only successful applications to the Initial Application will be invited to submit a Full Business Case.

“Initial applications are now open and close at 5pm AEST on 27 April 2018.
