Federal Member for Braddon, Justine Keay, would like to congratulate the King Island Beef Producers for Sustainable Beef Production on being awarded over $32,000 as part of the competitive Farmer Group Projects grant.
Farmer Group Projects is a competitive funding component of the Farm Co-operative and Collaboration pilot program which assists groups of farmers to implement collaborative business arrangements.
Justine Keay said, “It is great to see some support being given to Tasmanian farmers to boost their bargaining position, take greater ownership along their supply chain and increase their returns at the farm gate.
“The King Island Beef Producers for Sustainable Beef Production were one of 14 successful projects selected by Southern Cross University from 66 farmer groups that applied in the second round of the program.
“This funding will allow for the King Island Region to continue forming regional networks and will assist farmer groups on the island to overcome barriers that they may have experienced in seeking to make change.
